Car for teenagers
Parents have a huge responsibility when they hand over a car keys to their kid, who is a teenager! Luckily, technology can help them now! Chevrolet developed a new mode, called Teen Driver. The main purpose of this mode is make car driving safer, for young drivers. Teen Driver will be available on a new Chevrolet 2016 Chevy Malibu.
This system will mute radio, if a driver isn’t wearing a seat belt. Parents can limit the top speed between 40-75 mph. If a driver drives faster, he will get audible and visual warnings that should make him slow down. Parent also has a control of lights, making sure they don’t stay on during a day, and of a traction control, making sure it is always on! After a ride, parents will have a complete report that includes: maximum speed achieved, total distance driven and how many speed warnings were issued. Teen Driver got many positive reviews, but it got one negative. Apparently, the main drawback of this system is that it doesn’t do anything to stop teenagers from using a mobile phone!
Chevrolet already offers a mode called Valet that limits how the car is driven and use the onboard camera to prevent abuse. The new 2016 Chevy Malibu will be presented next month, at the New York car show. Although Teen Driver sounds like a great solution for parents, many teenagers aren’t going to like this system. Chevrolet should pay a lot of attention on making this feature safe from hacking. Many teenagers are good with computers, so some of them may override these limitations, by hacking a system!
